John Richardson


John Richardson has been a director at COX since 1972. He has been Project Director for many of the practice’s major projects, both in Australia and internationally, and has been project director for over 30 award winning projects, awards including the Sir Zelman Cowan and a Sulman Award.

John has extensive experience on a range of projects, including master planning, resorts, sports facilities, exhibition and convention centres, and health and education facilities. Most notable is his work on the Ayers Rock Tourist Resort, Allianz Stadium, and the Sydney Metro North West.

He has been actively involved as a committee member and councillor of many industry association boards including the Royal Australian Institute of Architects RAIA (NSW Chapter) where he has previously served as President.

John has also been involved in the master planning of many significant places such as Pyrmont, Victoria Park, CUB Broadway, Royal North Shore Hospital, Macquarie University, Second Ponds Creek, and Alex Avenue. In recent years he has become involved in major rail transport projects, such as Chatswood Transport Interchange, North West Metro, and the Sydney Metro North West. John has also been providing master plan advice to the Australian National Maritime Museum for many years.

John is a board member and past president of the Australian Service Roundtable, was a board member of the Sydney Cove Redevelopment Authority and is a board member of the National Trust of Australia (NSW). He was a member of the Sydney Harbour Design Review Panel for almost a decade.
