Commit, Champion, Lead: 500 Women in Property

500 Women in Property is an initiative of the Property Council’s Diversity Committees throughout Australia and is a sponsorship program. It involves a personal commitment from Property Council Members (women and men) to identify and champion women in their organisation or business sphere, who they believe would benefit from further networking and professional development opportunities.

Emma graduated with a Bachelor of Design with Honours from the Queensland University of Technology in 2011. She majored in Interior Design and minored in Architectural Studies and Sustainability. Emma has been an employee of COX in Brisbane since 2015. As a designer who has worked collaboratively on a variety of projects, both large and small scale, Emma aims to retain a strong sensibility for the fundamentals of good design and a dedication to an adaptive design process. Her attention to detail and commitment to the effective resolution of conceptual design ideas have been fundamental in achieving mutually successful project outcomes. Emma has developed insights into the differing dynamics affecting the built environment and is passionate about sustainability which features strongly in her design philosophy. Emma shows keen interest in workplace design and has been crucial to the success of recently completed projects including Cardno APAC Headquarter sand Charter Hall’s Workplace in the Brisbane CBD.

Leanne Mitchell

As an Associate of COX, Leanne is an integral part of the leadership team. Through her 25 years of experience, Leanne has developed a strong technical knowledge base and loves being in her site boots! In the office, she leads by example and successfully balances her hours and senior role in the practice with her family. She is passionate about equality and inclusivity, is a member of NAWIC and endeavours to be a good role model for the young and emerging architects she works with. Leanne is an active staff member at Cox, being part of several technical and cultural committees within the studio. Leanne has also been the driver of our first formal COX Mentoring Programme which kicked off late last year (2019). Educated through the part-time Architecture degree at UTS, Leanne gained valuable undergraduate experience. Post-graduation, Leanne spent time working in both London and Dublin expanding her experience in the industry. During her 12 years at COX, Leanne has been project leader for several major public buildings including the Australian Museum redevelopment currently under construction.
