COX Sydney is currently seeking a mid-level Interior Designer with a minimum of 3 years experience.
Position Summary:
COX Architecture interior and spatial designers are involved in the design or renovation of internal spaces, including structural and services alterations, furnishings, fixtures and fittings, lighting, and colour schemes.
Interior/spatial designers will be required to work in a range of different project settings. The role combines the efficient and functional use of space with an understanding of aesthetics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages small scale projects independently and effectively.
- Manages and oversees the day to day running of a small project team.
- Full design, design development & documentation.
- Involvement in and being aware of fee structure for projects.
- Direct client liaison, with the ability to effectively manage client relationships and other key stakeholder relationships.
- Effective cost management of projects, with assistance from senior team members.
- Participates in Project Resource allocation.
- Provides input into studio Resource allocation.
- Manage project programs from end to end, with assistance from senior members of the team.
- Maintaining project files and documents.
- Initiative in implementing and improving the Interiors Quality Assurance system.
- Responsible for organizing internal design and documentation reviews.
- Setting a professional example to clients and all team members.
- Sources products and provides samples for clients.
- Prepares detailed working drawings, designs, plans, models, and schemes often using computer-aided design (CAD / Revit) software.
- Participates in internal design and documentation reviews.
- Researches and gathers information relating to the project.
- Works effectively and collaboratively with their colleagues, and actively participates in a team environment.
- Contributes to continuous improvement and workplace innovation.
- Attends industry functions, seminars and conferences and keeps up to date with new developments in the design industry.
- Complies with COX’s Environmental Procedures and applies a broad knowledge COX’s Environmental Management System and Environmental legislation.
- Adheres to and implements the quality requirements as directed.
- Controls documentation in accordance with Document Control in COX’s Quality Procedures Manual.
- Contributes to risk management within the workplace and observes risk control requirements.
Competencies and experience required:
- Excellent problem solving/analytical skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage their own time.
- Ability to effectively delegate to and monitor more junior members of the team.
- Ability to interpret and carry out instructions.
- Ability to use basic theoretical knowledge of Interior Design principles to analyse and interpret information.
- Ability to prioritise and manage their own workload.
- Uses software packages to produce basic documents, including Revit, Adobe Suite and CAD.
Qualifications required:
An undergraduate degree in Interior Design or another relevant field.
