When are Awards like buses?

When you wait and wait, and then two come along at once.

In a fantastic week for Cox’s Sydney office, not only was the Cox Scholarship awarded, but we were the recipients of two major awards, from the Planning Institute of Australia and the New Zealand Institute of Architects.

The Parramatta Road Urban Transformation Strategy won the award in two categories;

Best Planning Ideas – Large Project and Hard Won Victory

From the Judges citation:

The judging panel commends the applicant for its whole-of-government approach to the strategy and its innovative stakeholder engagement model that is now being replicated across government in NSW.

We congratulate Lachlan Abercrombie and his team.

We are also, with Beca Architects, celebrating receipt of the Award for Public Architecture for the Manakau Bus Station in the Auckland Architecture Awards. The jury commends the project as:

[A] compelling design that is completely of this place. From the metaphor of a kite has been created a lovely, light floating structure.

Congratulations to Satvir Mand and Nick Tyrell and to our colleagues at Beca Architecture
