A future civic heart for the Garden Shire, envisioned as a vibrant, walkable centre where landscape, community and transport converge – shaping a more connected and inclusive experience.
COX provided urban design, landscape, and architectural consultancy services to support a concept State Significant Development Application for the Hills Showground Station Precinct. The vision for the precinct was to create a thriving local mixed-use centre; a walkable, lively place enhanced by strong connections to world-class transport, and the cultural and recreational destination of Castle Hill Showground.
Framed by green open spaces that encourage connectivity and sweeping views over Cattai Creek and the wider Garden Shire, the precinct is designed to cater to a diverse range of residential needs. Leveraging the landscape characteristics of the site and its surrounds, COX developed a concept masterplan that delivered a complementary and connected public realm and enhanced the Hills’ wide network of blue and green spaces.

This new development in the heart of The Hills will create homes, jobs and outstanding public spaces on the doorstep of a Metro station. It will offer a diversity of housing for people with different lifestyles and open space that will include a park and plaza.
Anchored by a new civic heart, the regional recreation networks, local movement patterns and the transport interchange are integrated, igniting a place that will be active day and night, from weekdays to weekends, winter and summer.
Drawing from a comprehensive assessment of the precinct’s characteristics, opportunities and demographics, the concept masterplan allows provision for new public open spaces, retail and commercial opportunities, community spaces, and a diversity of housing typologies. The masterplan also sought to achieve outstanding placemaking, open space and public domain, pedestrian amenity, and resident amenity outcomes for the Hills Showground Station Precinct.
