Celebrating 10 Years of Partnership with CareerTrackers Intern Roi Indich-Navon

The 2025 NAIDOC Week theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” calls on all of us to celebrate the power of Indigenous youth and the future they are shaping – drawing strength from the past, vision from their communities, and legacy from their ancestors. It’s a moment to reflect not only on where we’ve come from, but where we’re heading and who is leading the way.

This year, as we honour that legacy and look forward to the next generation of changemakers, COX is proud to celebrate a decade of partnership with CareerTrackers, a national non-profit dedicated to creating pathways for First Nations university students to thrive, both academically and professionally.

CareerTrackers equips young Indigenous leaders with tools, experience, and networks to succeed in the workforce. Through paid internships, deep mentorship, and long-term support, the program empowers students to step confidently into industries where they can lead and make lasting change.

As an employment partner for the past ten years, COX has proudly supported this mission, offering real-world experience and mentorship across its studios, and helping students like Roi Indich-Navon find purpose, passion, and a clear path forward in architecture and design.

“I feel so fortunate to have been connected to CareerTrackers,” he shares. “I remember my high-school mentor recommending the Year 10 program, and I almost overlooked it, thinking it was too good to be true. At the time, I didn’t know what I wanted to pursue – but applying changed everything. It helped me carve out a passion for architecture and set me on a clear path.”

Roi has since worked on two major Victorian projects, the New Footscray Hospital and the Ballarat Athletics Centre, contributing from design development through to construction and documentation. “The experience has been invaluable,” he says. “As are the industry connections I’ve made.”

Over the past three years at COX, Roi has found not only a career path, but a deeper calling.

“I’ve realised that my true passion lies in Indigenous engagement and design. Once I had a taste of that work, I was hooked. It made my future direction clear. My involvement with CareerTrackers is about more than just industry experience—it’s become a key part of my personal commitment to closing the gap through Culture and Design.”

Ten years on, the partnership between COX and CareerTrackers continues to evolve, driven by shared values, grounded in opportunity, and shaped by the stories of emerging First Nations leaders.
