We are thrilled to announce that Jacky Chen, a valued member of our Sydney Studio, has been chosen as one of the winners in Australian Design Review’s  30under30 program. Jacky will join a cohort of 29 other outstanding individuals in this annual initiative, aimed at providing mentorship and fostering career development for young architects and innovators in the Built World.

Passionate About Architecture

Jacky’s passion for architecture is palpable; he sees it not only as a profession but as a canvas for expressing creativity and making positive contributions to the urban environment. His journey in architecture has been marked by significant milestones, including his role as a tutor for the Master of Architecture final design studio at the University of New South Wales and his involvement with Parlour in their mentoring workshop The Vine. Here, Jacky finds inspiration in the innovative ideas of students, fuelling his excitement for the future of architecture.

A Path to Success with COX

Jacky’s journey with COX began during his penultimate year of Bachelor of Architectural Studies at UNSW. Before joining our team, he gained valuable experience in a smaller architectural firm, specialising in commercial and residential projects, as well as in building asset and lifecycle assessment. Jacky’s academic prowess and community engagement have been widely recognised, with multiple scholarship offers and a nomination as Young Australian of the Year in 2014.

A Celebrated Designer

Jacky’s commitment to excellence is evident through his numerous accolades, including the prestigious UNSW COX Architecture Scholarship and being listed on the UNSW Dean’s Merit for five consecutive years. His dedication to architectural education and his impact on the community make him a shining example of talent and passion in our field.

Congratulations to All

COX extends heartfelt congratulations not only to Jacky but also to fellow nominees Hannah Clifton, Karin Ke, and Hunter Crisp. We are privileged to have such a wealth of young and talented designers among us, each contributing to the vibrant landscape of our profession.
