Celebrating New Elevations in Our Brisbane Studio
We are excited to announce seven new elevations in our Brisbane Studio. Join us in congratulating the following team members on their well-deserved promotions.
Nuraishikin Salleh – Senior Associate
Nura graduated from Singapore Polytechnic with a Diploma in Architectural Technology in 2002 and obtained a Bachelor of Built Environment followed by a Bachelor of Architecture from Queensland University of Technology in 2007. Since joining Cox Architecture in her final year of studies, she has advanced our BIM management and documentation on projects such as the Christchurch Justice and Emergency Precinct, the Energex Headquarters, and The Ninth Middle Ridge. Her detailed work on the Australian War Memorial façade in Canberra and her dual role as Project Architect and BIM Manager for the Sydney Coliseum exemplify her expertise. Nura also brings international experience from Singapore, Malaysia, and New Zealand.
Robert Callanan – Senior Associate
Robert has extensive experience in delivering large sports, civic, community, and recreational buildings. He has played a key role in realising iconic structures such as the Anna Meares Velodrome, Queensland Country Bank Stadium, Jakarta International Velodrome, and the Great Barrier Reef Arena. With a strong background in design, documentation, and delivery, Robert is dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for the community and end users.
Karen Appleyard – Senior Associate
As Brisbane’s Office Manager, Karen oversees the studio’s finance and operations. Joining during a period of significant change, she quickly mastered the complexities of managing a busy design practice. Karen handles a multitude of operational tasks, including human resources, legal, and compliance, bringing discipline and thoroughness to her role. Her work provides confidence to the Brisbane Directors and the wider COX community.
James Ryan – Associate
James is a registered architect in QLD with over a decade of experience across education, cultural, residential, commercial, and master planning sectors. At COX, he has contributed to a wide range of projects, from small-scale adaptive re-use to detailed documentation and delivery of cultural, educational, and sporting facilities. James excels in project coordination and delivery, ensuring design consistency and efficiency while achieving positive sustainable design outcomes.
Ashley Beckett – Associate
Ashley is a proud Wakka Wakka and Butchulla man with connections to Ugarapul and Goeng Goeng People. Joining Cox Architecture in 2012, he has been the Project Architect on several exemplary projects. Ashley holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture, is a registered architect in Queensland, and serves as National BIM Coordinator and National Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Ambassador. A leader in BIM processes, Ashley has contributed to over $10B in projects and provides expert training at QUT and UQ.
Cecile Viollet – Associate
Born in France, Cecile moved to Australia to study Architecture and Interior Design. With over 10 years of experience, she has worked on a variety of projects in the Sports, Workplace, Education, Residential, Aged Care, and Transport sectors. Cecile’s commitment to high design quality and her strong attention to detail have earned her recognition as a versatile and adaptable designer, capable of excelling in any environment.
Mitchell Buckley – Associate
Since joining COX in 2013, Mitchell has gained extensive experience in various sectors, including stadiums, cultural buildings, convention centres, schools, higher education institutions, multi-residential buildings, and transport projects. As an Associate and National Computational Design Coordinator, he contributes valuable expertise in computational design and BIM implementation, enhancing COX’s digital workflow strategies.
