Kyran Dixon joins as COX’s Indigenous Engagement Lead

It is with great pleasure that we introduce you to Kyran Dixon, COX’s Indigenous Engagement Lead.

Working out of our Adelaide Studio, Kyran is a proud Narungga and Kaurna man.

“Growing up, I was fortunate to be exposed to the wisdom of my Elders who shared the gift of knowledge, language, respect, and culture. All of this has shaped who I am today. Every day I am driven by a purpose to honour their legacy while also working to build a better future for the next generation.”

Prior to joining COX, Kyran’s journey has been marked by impactful roles aimed at driving positive change.

He honed his expertise during his tenure at EY as a Risk and Internal Audit Consultant, where he contributed to the Indigenous Sector Practice. Following this, he took on the role of National Reconciliation & Youth Leadership Coordinator at Canteen Australia, leading the development of their Reconciliation Action Plan. Most recently, as Manager of Reconciliation and Cultural Heritage at Renewal SA, Kyran excelled in implementing reconciliation initiatives, fostering relationships with Aboriginal communities, and overseeing cultural heritage management across the organisation’s projects. He is highly skilled in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and fostering inclusive environments.

What drew Kyran to COX was a profound belief in the transformative power of architecture and design in fostering social, cultural, and economic change for First Nations peoples and communities.

“I see architecture and design as more than just projects – it’s a means of truth-telling, storytelling, and connecting with Country. I see this industry as a catalyst for economic independence and improved well-being within Indigenous communities, paving the way for a brighter future.”

At COX, Kyran aims to cultivate meaningful connections both internally and externally.

“I believe that relationships are at the heart of every project – engagement, impact, and opportunity creation is key. I aim for COX to emerge as industry leaders in championing Indigenous empowerment, and supporting autonomy and leadership among First Nations people.”

In his role, Kyran will oversee the implementation of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), ensuring our commitments translate into tangible actions. He will provide guidance on First Nations engagement, build external relationships with stakeholders, and offer culturally appropriate advice to promote a safe and inclusive working environment. Additionally, Kyran will provide support to our First Nations team members, nurturing their growth and success within our organisation.

As we embark on this journey with Kyran, let us embrace their wisdom, passion, and dedication to creating a better future for all.
