Performance Arts Education on Show at St Andrew’s Anglican College

COX is collaborating with St Andrew’s Anglican College to design and deliver a flagship administrative, performing arts, and cultural precinct. This transformative project addresses existing spatial and functional challenges, while unlocking new opportunities for the College’s creative arts programs.
For years, Music and Drama operated within repurposed rooms, that while functional, did not meet the aspirations of the school for its performance and creative learning programs.

The new Performing Arts Centre provides the dedicated spaces needed to foster creativity collaboration, and excellence. Positioned at the prominent south-western edge of the site, the Hub serves as a key arrival point for the campus. The design consists of two buildings—an Administration facility adjacent to the existing Aquatic Centre, and a Learning and Rehearsal wing—brought together by a central courtyard. This courtyard provides a multi-level outdoor performance and learning space.

Purpose-built for the arts, the centre celebrates both the individuality of each discipline and the ways in which they intersect. Spaces are designed to inspire creativity, with careful attention to acoustics, light, views, and volume. The Band and Strings room, positioned at the north-west corner, makes a bold statement about the College’s investment in the arts, while the north-east corner steps down in scale to integrate seamlessly into the broader campus.
Beyond its curricular and co-curricular functions, the Performing Arts Centre will be a cultural destination for the College and the wider Sunshine Coast community. It provides a space for students to forge their skills, showcase their talents, and engage with artistic organisations beyond the school. This strengthened connection to the local arts scene will enhance learning experiences and reinforce St Andrew’s reputation as a leader in arts education.
