Brisbane Open House 2017

This year Cox Architecture are pleased to support Brisbane Open House in continuing the education and exploration of architecture in the Brisbane area.

Two Cox-designed spaces are open during the event, which runs from Saturday the 7th of October to Sunday the 8th. The Anna Meares Velodrome and the UQ Oral Health Centre are both heavily-awarded projects by our education and sports teams.

Take a tour of these two Cox-designed buildings and share your photos on Instagram to go in the running to win 1 of 6 limited edition practice books.

To enter, simply tag your tour photos with #CoxOpenHouse and @CoxArchitecture before Wednesday the 11th of October. Each photo counts as one entry, and all are welcome to enter multiple times. Instagram stories are not included as entries, and accounts must be public to be eligible to win.

As Queensland’s first indoor velodrome, the Anna Meares Velodrome will host the Track Cycling competition for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. This new world-class facility will also attract elite training squads and competition events to further the development of cycling in Queensland.

The UQ Oral Health Centre has won a number of architectural awards since its construction. Designed with sustainable principles in mind, Cox Architecture were challenged to design a facility that not only eliminates its impact on the environment, but also minimised the trepidation and anxiety often felt when going to the dentist.

The result is an inviting sequence of spaces, engaging students, staff and the public. Collaborative learning environments, laboratories, interconnected pathways, study spaces and common areas connect with the outside environment, inviting ample natural light. The sloping site allows public levels and clinics to be located low and adjacent to parkland, contributing to a feeling of calm.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_images_carousel images=”5518,5254,5567,5568″][vc_column_text]
