Shortlist Announced: Australian Interior Design Awards 2018

The 2018 Australian Interior Design Awards shortlist has been announced, with four diverse Cox Architecture projects in the running across Public and Retail Design categories.

The Sir Louis Matheson Library at Monash University has been shortlisted in the Public Design category, a major redevelopment of the library which has transformed the essential facility into an attractive and engaging learning-research environment for students and academics.

Presbyterian Ladies College Performing Arts Centre has also been shortlisted, with the new centre featuring undulating acoustic timber cladding, adding to the versatility of the auditorium for music and theatre performances and rehearsals.

Exceptional materiality is a key aspect of our work on the 259 Queen Street Main Lobby Refurbishment, our third project shortlisted in the Public design category. Rich, smooth stone textures compliment the cavernous ceiling height, with the lobby sensitively restored around the heritage GPO adjacent.

The fourth Cox Architecture project featuring in the awards is Masons on Flinders Lane, wherein the interiors tea utilised a masculine colour palette, rich natural textures and highly detailed finishes seamlessly to celebrate and lead clientele through the unique collections on offer.

We are extremely proud of our design teams, who consider details beyond materiality and finishes to the way spaces can enhance the lives of those using them. We also congratulate all shortlisted practices for their contributions to exceptional design.

The final awards announcement will take place on May 25th in Sydney. The full shortlist will be released via the AIDA here.
