Celebrating inspired design: Western Sydney Airport nears completion

Excitement is building within the local community as Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) nears practical completion. We are proud to have played a key role in this transformative project, collaborating with Zaha Hadid Architects on the terminal’s design concept and reference design, alongside Woods Bagot, which is leading design and delivery.

The striking wave-like terminal ceiling, inspired by the Blue Mountains has recently been celebrated in a Sydney Morning Herald report, as well as the emphasis on creating a welcoming, light-filled space for travellers showcase the seamless integration of architecture and natural surroundings to enhance passenger experience.

Project lead and COX Director David Holm recently spoke with ABC Radio National about the airport’s sustainable and user-focused design, highlighting intuitive wayfinding and energy-efficient systems, reflecting our broader commitment to balancing functionality and aesthetics. ABC’s feature further explores these elements and their role in shaping a world-class travel experience.
