Intuit Workplace
Sydney, New South Wales
Colour at the core: a workplace where colour and light shape community, connection and wellbeing. This was an intentional design tactic to support the different space types and functions; providing energetic events spaces, collaboration zones and focus work points.
COX’s design for Intuit reimagines the modern tech workplace as a space that is expressive, warm and energetic.
As a global technology leader that helps power prosperity for millions, Intuit’s builder culture is defined by inventiveness, collaboration and care – values that set the tone for our design response. The project also acknowledges a post-COVID reality: workplaces now compete with home. To succeed, they must feel vibrant, flexible and, importantly, give people a reason connect with the company mission and values.
Expressed through colour
In a deliberate break from norms, bold colour is central to the design. Not just decoration, colour is engaged as an architectural tool to create rhythm, express values and show identity.
As an expression of the Intuit brand, at the heart of the workplace, a striking blue oak stairwell embodies this principle. Its stained timber catches and refracts daylight, transforming an everyday element into a sculptural anchor.
Focus zones use calming, muted tones, while collaborative areas are energised by brighter hues and softer finishes.
COX Director, Brooke Lloyd
Colour in workplace design is often seen as risky. It’s easier to default to the status quo, which is currently defined by safer neutrals. What excited us about this project was Intuit’s openness to experiment; to embrace colour’s positive impact. In a hybrid culture where offices must do more to motivate people to come in, colour became a unique tool to support this.
A village for work, enhanced by light and greenery
The design introduces a ‘village’ of defined neighbourhoods and diverse settings, letting people work from almost anywhere. This creates a hybrid-like experience without leaving the office. Considered acoustics support this flexibility, enabling focus and collaboration side by side.
A circular floor plan ensures egalitarian access to both daylight and greenery, with work points concentrated near windows and outdoor spaces. In collaboration with First Nations design consultant, Yerrabingin, greenery abounds, with native species outdoors supporting urban biodiversity.
Community building is reinforced through wellness facilities, breakout areas and informal ‘bump spaces’ that foster chance encounters. Dramatic vertical operable walls can open up to unite three spaces for activities like ‘all hands’ and town halls.

At Intuit, the workplace journey immerses employees and visitors in a culture of innovation, purpose, connection and belonging. Cox’s workplace design provides a functional and delightful experience to fuel mind, body and soul to support connection and belonging; a space for our employees to thrive.
Anchored in place and region
The design is rooted in Sydney yet reflects Intuit’s APAC presence. An art strategy by Art Pharmacy brings this to life: meeting rooms named after APAC countries, with artworks by APAC artists integrated throughout.
Sydney itself is expressed through texture, light and ambience. An extra-large recycled terrazzo floor, together with a hospitality overlay of warm lighting, soft furnishings and crafted joinery, embodying the city’s accessible sense of luxe and ease. The result is an environment that feels welcoming from the first moment of arrival.
Intuit’s new workplace shows how colour can make an office truly inviting. The outcome is a workplace that sparks collaboration and reflects the rhythms of modern tech culture — functional, warm and distinctly human.
