Allianz Stadium Shortlisted for Prix Versailles and World Architecture Festival

The redeveloped Allianz Stadium is taking the world by storm, recently shortlisted for two prestigious international architecture awards. Making the cut in the Sports category for both the UNESCO Prix Versailles and the World Architecture Festival, the venue is continuing to showcase why it’s one of Australia’s premier multi-use rectangular stadiums.

Presented each year at UNESCO since 2015, the Prix Versailles celebrates the finest contemporary projects around the world. To be recognised by such a prestigious institution is an exceptional honour and adds to the venues growing list of accolades including ‘Best Rectangular Stadium’ at the 2022 Stadiums Awards. In 2019, Optus Stadium (designed by Hassell, COX and HKS Architects) took home the world title in Sports at the Prix Versailles, being coined the ‘world’s most beautiful sporting facility.’ This second consideration elevates COX to an exclusive group of architectural firms that have received multiple shortlistings for Prix Versailles.

Additionally, the inclusion of Allianz Stadium on the shortlist for the World Architecture Festival is a further testament to its significance in the global architectural landscape. Shortlisted among 15 projects from around the world, it’s truly an honour to be part of such an esteemed selection.

COX Director, Alastair Richardson
