Phillip Street Workplace
Sydney, New South Wales

Sitting within a rare Victorian heritage jewel in Sydney’s CBD, COX has created a new Australasian HQ for this global strategic advisory firm. This workplace, reimagined as a clubhouse, balances a challenging brief of imbuing a progressive spirit within a legacy brand and heritage listed building.

Trust and discretion are pivotal to this organisation’s operations. A series of crafted rooms cater to the diverse needs of the business. A sophisticated cocktail bar and lounge warmly welcome clients into the space, effortlessly pivoting the mood from espressos by day to martinis at night. Meeting rooms with advanced audio-visual technology function seamlessly to connect a global client base and provide a convivial setting for a hatted chef to serve lunch.
The design response further expresses this tension and duality through detailing, palette, and curation. Informed by a restrained Scandinavian sensibility, the joinery is the perfect counterpoint to the buildings ornate Victorian detailing. A combination of vintage and new furniture pieces, teamed with sculpture and artworks in experimental mediums from Anya Pesce and Henryk, create a dynamic and intriguing space.

Layered lighting is expertly executed to deliver both warm and moody hospitality spaces to light, airy workspace, all within the rigid requirements of a heritage listed interior.
A space that wears many hats, timeless and progressive, professional and convivial, stitched together expertly through craft and curation.
