COX Projects Shortlisted for 2024 Inside World Festival of Interiors

Two of our projects have been shortlisted at the 2024 Inside World Festival of Interiors. COX’s Sydney Studio and the CSL Global Headquarters in Melbourne are both Finalists in the Workplace (Large) category and will be presented live in Singapore this November.

Different clients and contrasting industries—one housed within a new COX-designed tower, the other in a heritage space—yet both share harmonious outcomes. Despite their significant differences, they stand united as exemplars of modern workplace design, reflecting the rich and diverse cultures of Australia’s two largest cities.

COX’s Sydney Studio sits within 5 floors of the Metcalfe Bond Stores at 70 George Street in Tallawoladah / The Rocks. Originally built in 1912, the heritage-listed former bond store and warehouse was designed in the functionalist tradition with timber post and beam interior construction and brick load bearing exterior walls.

Sustainability, collaboration, and conservation are the core project pillars.

“Fundamental to our planning approach was recognising COX’s dual drivers of fluidity and collaboration as well as providing equitable access to light and maintaining cross ventilation to facilitate a mixed mode ventilation strategy,” explains COX Director, Brooke Lloyd.

We endeavoured to design a space that could adapt to change, suiting both the way we work now and how we work in the future.

CSL’s Global Headquarters and Centre for R&D provides a future-ready environment enabling the organisation to continue its contribution to biomedical science. Featuring agile workplace, development laboratories, exhibition spaces for external stakeholders and an extensive variety of meeting, collaboration and breakout spaces, the building includes a bold green stair nicknamed the ‘Treewalk’.

“Connecting the CSL team and visitors from the ground floor lobby, the Treewalk journeys through the laboratory floors and weaves through the workplace, rising all the way to the Level 16 outdoor terrace,” says COX Director Christina Prodromou.

Beyond its functionality, it celebrates the organisation’s endeavours through the concept of CSL-on-show.

Both projects will be presented live to delegates and an international jury at the Inside World Festival of Interiors, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore between Wednesday 6 and Friday 8 November.

Another two COX projects are shortlisted in the 2024 WAF Awards: 555 Collins Street, Melbourne in Completed Buildings – Mixed-Use Projects and new Footscray Hospital in Future Projects – Health.
