Steve is a Director of COX Architecture working across national and international projects. He has been a qualified architect for over 30 years and was the managing director of Forbes & Fitzhardinge Woodland prior to their merger with COX.
Throughout his career, Steve has amassed substantial experience on a broad range of projects across Australia and overseas. Steve’s design expertise has been recognised through prestigious local, national and international awards and publications. He has received the International Quaternary Gold Award (Italy), the Trophee Archizinc Prix Special ‘Audace’ (Paris), the national AIA Sir Zelman Cowen Award, the AIA Architecture Medal and three AIA George Temple Poole Awards.
He has served two terms as the Western Australian Government Architect, providing whole-of-government built environment advice. During his tenure he led many major city-building projects in Perth, along with the development of Australia’s first built environment policy – ‘Better Places and Spaces.’
Steve is committed to design excellence. He is a strong advocate for the creation of a built environment which enhances people’s quality of life and is active in pursuing this ideal both in his formal work and though various professional affiliations and committees. Steve is focused on all aspects of design excellence across the fields of architecture, planning and interior design.
